An international aerospace, defence and security company. They have a leading naval business, and provide value add-services across the UK, France, Canada, Australasia and South Africa. They also operate in, and export to, additional markets.
As part of their strategic and collaborative relationship with the UK Governments Ministry of Defence a transformation programme has been initiated focussing on continuous performance, productivity and cost savings. This required the ability to quickly visualise key project, programme and portfolio transformation data to uncover insights, simplify complex decision making and deliver the agreed benefits and outcomes successfully.
Using Roelto R-PPM solution, powered by SharpCloud the Project Portfolio solution was successfully delivered in less than 6 months and is now a key tool to deliver the clients transformation programme.
The transformation programme consists of over 100 projects located across the UK, involving multiple teams. Project data and information needed to stored in a single location, providing a live record which could be accessed by anyone at anytime. The new Project Portfolio Management system needed to replace the current systems where a series of excel documents were used with the information being manually passed between them, which created a significant duplication of work, data transcription errors and uncertainty.
Using R-PPM, powered by SharpCloud a standard meta data and project view template was created and used by each programme. Each programme contains projects which all have standard panels (dashboards) of data. Project data is entered into forms, stored in SharePoint and an Excel report produced which is uploaded into each programme. The projects are updated so that project teams and the Programme leads can review their projects and take the necessary actions.
In real-time the programme projects are “rolled up” to the portfolio where they can all be seen in one place.
Each project/programme includes a series of data driven views and dashboards for example schedule, RAG status, golden threads, risk, cost and benefits, etc. to help uncover insights and simplify complex decision making
As a result, projects are reviewed by exception only, providing real time status of projects, programme and portfolio. Below are the list of benefits which have been delivered or are in the process of being delivered:
